We're TCU!
The
letters stand for the Transportation Communications Union, 100 years in
the making and getting stronger every day!
We're here to stay, ready to take on whatever comes in the
next 100!
The Union
is headed by Robert A. Scardelletti who has been TCU's International
President since 1991. International
Secretary-Treasurer is L. E. Bosher.
There are eight International Vice Presidents who, with the
President and Secretary-Treasurer, form the Union's Executive Council
which coordinates the overall operation and direction of the Union.
A seven-member Board of Trustees oversees Union finances and
property.
With
headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C., the
international provides members with a range of services, including
education, information and community services.
Our Union was
founded in 1899 when a group of 33 railway clerks in Sedalia, Missouri,
banded together in their common struggle for human dignity on the job.
Though
the times have changed, our needs as working Americans have not. TCU members are employed with hundreds of different companies
as reservations agents, bus and taxi drivers, truck drivers, warehouse
workers, skycaps, secretaries, railroad police officers and many other
areas. In addition our
members work at Disney World in housekeeping, as bellmen, in watercrafts
including as lifeguards, on the monorail system, and in other important
areas.
We
want what most people want from life: peace, prosperity, security and
dignity--for ourselves and for all people.
And we believe that by working together we can achieve our common
objectives more effectively.
